On Tuesday, 27 of September, “Sudzucker Moldova” company organized the traditional press tour during what the journalists from the main Moldavian mass-media had the opportunity to receive information from first sources about the ways the beet harvest is going and the sugar is produced. There was present also Vasile Bumacov, the minister of Agriculture and Food Industry on the field of growing the sugar beet belonging to agricultural enterprise „Mihaileni Agro” and at the sugar factory from Drochia.
The minister mentioned, during the discussions with the participants at the press tour, that the long lasting drought at the end of the summer – beginning of autumn was similar to the one from the same period of the year 2009, when in the country there was perished a large quantity of sugar beet fruits. „At any rate, the production losses in 2011 will be considerably less. It is dues to the fact that the agricultural manufacturers, being offered material and technical support, but also consulting one by the sugar producer « Sudzucker Moldova », they are implementing advanced agricultural technologies allowing to save resources, also they use technical equipment with a great production capacity. On the other hand they practice adequate methods of beet harvest and delivery of it to factories.”
The directory of agricultural enterprise „Mihaileni Agro”, Tudor Chelari mentioned at the same topic that due to the technical assistance provided by „Sudzucker Moldova”, in his enterprise is implemented the technology of moisture conservation by minimal soil aeration during the process of sugar beet cultivation. As a result the enterprise had an enough rich beet harvest even in drought conditions. At the moment, the sugar producer is helping to harvesting process – he put at the disposal own tracks and at its own expense transports the beets from combines to the outside of the field.
According to Ruslan Gheorghita, the raw material director at „Sudzucker Moldova”, the head of the company decided to start the beet harvest at partner agricultural enterprises one month earlier than the normal time (the beginning of October), in order to avoid too big losses of raw material because of weather conditions. In this order, the company forced the factories to start already the preparation for the processing season. Also the company offered to agricultural firms great additional payments for the early start of beet harvest. This proved to be a right decision. Or, the speaker of the board of “Südzucker Moldova SA” said that due to this decision, there were saved around 60-70 thousand tons of beet. Totally, according to company specialists’ prognosis, this year there will be processed 400 thousand tons of bit, and as a result produced 50-55 thousand tons of sugar.
