Sowing
Sugar beet must be sown within optimal early terms, when there are most favorable conditions for this activity. In case of extremely early sowing, seeds grow up slowly, seedlings cripple and weaken, and get seriously damaged with nematodes, while most of them die. Sowing in unreasonable early terms leads to a mass appearance of plants that do not produce root crops, fact which significantly decreases harvest productivity and root quality.
On the other hand, it is necessary to try as much as possible to extend the period of sugar beet vegetation, because 1 ha can produce daily 5-15 centners of root crops.
In case of late sowing, the top layer of soil can be insufficiently humid for sprouts to appear and for the mechanized formation of abundant standing plants.
The norm of seed sowing is established in such a way that the necessary thickness of implantation is ensured without using manual work.
The beet is sown by means of dotted lines sowing method using “Unicorn 3” and “Multicorn” sowers that perfectly ensure the uniform distribution of seeds in the soil in terms of depth, as well as an additional rolling of the seeds.
