Soil cultivation

Autumn soil treatment is an important link in obtaining smooth firm sprouts of sugar beet.

Autumn processing of the soil for sugar beet includes:

  • stubble treatment
  • ploughing
  • leveling

Timely and qualitative stubble treatment ensures maximum elimination of weeds, unnecessary sprouts, as well as cutting plant remnants to pieces. The best machine to do this work is “Smaragd 9”, made by Lemken.

“Südzucker Moldova SA” performs land ploughing with ”Smaragd 9” cultivator, made by Lamken, which maximally eliminates weeds, crumbles well and levels the top layer of the soil and additionally mixes the organic compounds with the soil.

Pre-sowing Soil Treatment

Pre-sowing treatment has a significant influence upon field germination capacity of seeds. The optimum variant is using a mixed tool to create:

  • a leveled, crumbled and mulching sowing layer,
  • optimizing seed bed thickness,
  • additional removal of weeds.

Early spring breaking up prevents the lack of humidity in the soil, caused by the breaking of capillary networks in the top layer of the soil, and creates a protective mulch of 2-3 cm on the field.
