While providing comprehensive advisory and financial support to farmers, the German experts of the company introduced the European culture of sugar beet growing in Moldova.

Company history

1998 - German concern Südzucker AG Mannheim/Ochsenfurt became the first investor in the sugar industry in Moldova.

25 May 2001 - The Joint Venture Südzucker Moldova SA was founded by merger of the three sugar factories of the Republic of Moldova in Donduseni, Falesti and Drochia.

2001 - The launch of the brand "Cinci inimioare".

2002 - JV Südzucker Moldova SA introduces the system of direct supervision of agricultural enterprises.

August 2003 - With the participation of company's experts, temporary safeguard measures were introduced in Moldova as an additional 40% duty on the sugar imported to Moldova, thus the customs duty amounted to 55%.

December 2003 - The Government of Moldova approved the extension of safeguard measures for 4 years to protect the sugar market, by introducing special tariffs on imports of sugar.

March 2004 - Alexandreni sugar factory joined the company "Südzucker Moldova".

March 2004 - Dr. Gebhard Müller was elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board at the annual general meeting of shareholders of Südzucker Moldova SA.

November 2004 - The legislative amendments, under which VAT on sugar was reduced from 20% to 8% entered into force.

June 2005 - The new brand "Domnita" was launched.

April 2006 - Operational management of the JV Südzucker Moldova SA is fully transferred to the Moldovan Board of Directors.

20 December 2007 - The law No. 289 on the on Prolongation of the "Safe-guard" Protection Measure until August 2011 was adopted.

27 December 2007 - The company Südzucker Moldova registered the daughter agricultural enterprise of large profile - Agro-SZM.

24 April 2008 - Dr. Thomas Kirchberg was elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board at the general annual meeting of shareholders of Südzucker Moldova.

17 May 2008 - The SGS Company completed its inspection of the company Südzucker Moldova for compliance with the requirements of ISO and HACCP standards and recommended to approve the company's certification.

25 December 2008 - The Parliament of RM adopted the decision to raise the main tax on sugar import to the country starting with 2009 by 75%, agreed with WTO.

2009 - The sugar factory from Alexandreni of the Südzucker Moldova company was transformed into the modern Centre of logistics.

2010 - The launch of the new brand "Dalba".
